Overall course grading
Individual homeworks and projects will not be weighted equally. Generally speaking, individual assignments will be weighted according to their difficulty and/or amount of effort required to complete them.
Final grades will be computed on a 90-80-70-60 basis. I may assign B+ for 88 and above; similarly C+ for 78 and above. I will not assign any other +/- grades.
COVID-19 update: I am adding C- to the list of possible grades, depending on an individual's situation.
Late homework will not be accepted.
Late projects will be assessed a 40% penalty for up to one week after the due date. (The 40% deduction is a quantum jump; it doesn't matter if your project is 3 hours or 6 days late – the penalty is 40% in either case.) Under no circumstances will a project be accepted more than one week after the date it was due or after 11:59 p.m. the day before Stop Day, whichever comes first.
If you wish to question a grade on an exam, homework, or project assignment, you must do so within one week of when the graded work was returned to the class. After that time, grades will not be changed for any reason unless a case of academic misconduct is detected.
All work (projects, homeworks, and exams) must be your own. Detected violations will minimally result in a zero grade for all parties involved. Reports will also be made to the chair and to the dean's office which will result in more serious sanctions.
