Homework:

Each homework should be turned in at the beginning of class when it is due. Late homework is accepted in extraordinary circumstances. Solutions to homeowork assignments will be available on the class WEB page.

Exams:

There will be three tests (each of them will be closed book and closed notes). Using handhelds and graphic calculators during tests is not allowed. Following is a tentative schedule of the tests:

Grading:

If the sum of: the attendance score multiplied by 0.09, the homework score (the average of all homework scores) multiplied by 0.31, and the test score (the average of all test scores) multiplied by 0.6 will be greater than or equal to 90%, then your grade in the course will be an "A". If the above value will be greater than or equal to 80%, 70%, and 60%, then your grade will be a "B", "C", and "D".

The limit for each grade will not be raised and it may or may not be lowered. All homework assignments should be completed individually. Copying from other students or books, notes, etc., is not allowed during any and all tests and the final exam. Violations of this rule may result in a charge of academic misconduct.

Appeals:

If you feel that your scores are unfair or inappropriate, you should discuss them, first with the teaching assistant, and then, if you are still dissatisfied, with the instructor, within two weeks after your work had been returned.

Disability:

The staff of Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD), 135 Strong, 785-864-2620, coordinates accommodations and services for KU courses. If you have a disability for which you may request accommodation in KU classes and have not contacted them, please do as soon as possible. Please also see me privately in regard to this course.

Concealed handguns:

Individuals who choose to carry concealed handguns are solely responsible to do so in a safe and secure manner in strict conformity with state and federal laws and KU weapons policy. Safety measures outlined in the KU weapons policy specify that a concealed handgun:
  • Must be under the constant control of the carrier.
  • Must be out of view, concealed either on the body of the carrier, or backpack, purse, or bag that remains under the carrier’s custody and control.
  • Must be in a holster that covers the trigger area and secures any external hammer in an un-cocked position.
  • Must have the safety on, and have no round in the chamber.
